Monthly Archives: November 2008
Maybe I seldom use MRT. I usually use MRT only on the weekends. Today an MRT train I boarded has a unique feature that I never seen before, not until today..
It has train map system… whereby it shows where the train has to go and where it was going to stop. If i am not mistaken it started early this month… not many trains have this system..
Do you think it is necessary to have this system? Hmm…. sometimes useful especially to the passengers who like to sleep in the train.. Who knows without this system, they might have missed the stop!
Recently just for 3 months.. there are many new releases of netbooks. First was ASUS S$799, then HP S$799, ACER S$688, LENOVO S$799, LG S$799…. Competition for these brands are very intense. After months of consideration, examining the pros and cons.. The case closed, we decided to get ACER Aspire One which is now i am using it for writing the blog. Oh Yea.. i used “WE”, meaning we are sharing the netbook. As we planned this book is not for heavy use… it is mainly for light use and use only when we or either of us go travelling…
It is a nice book, we found it is compact, small and easy to carry…….useful for me to having it around while i go travelling!
We went to the West Coast Plaza today. Was not of what we expected. It is a new mall, we knew about this mall through the advertisement in the national newspaper stated, new opening of a new mall. The mall is located near the Clementi MRT although needed to take a bus to the mall.
Not a great mall.. it is somewhat like Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC). In fact it is actually smaller in size than BSC. When we went there, more than half of the shops were not opened yet.. only very few shops are operating. We were pretty disappointed especially my friend…..
This lesson has taught us, never go to the new opening mall, until they are fully established.. say after 3 months or so?? If you’re a Singapore resident, I would advise you don’t go first. ok?
Indeed walking in the breeze air, sure better than walking in the hot weather! Was at the Bugis meeting my long lost friend whom she came back from US to Singapore for good. She is my kindergarten mate friend whom we actually had lost touch until we met in the facebook! Thanks to facebook, that i have gotten in touch with some of my long lost friends. We were at the Bugis Junction, Food Junction and Bugis Village as she was looking for a pair of shoe. After the long search, she found a pair that she likes at BHG at Bugis Junction. We were aparted after we had lunch together at the Food Junction..
After that I went to this Sim Lim Square which is located not far from Bugis.
While walking to the Sim Lim Square, I met with another friend and we went into the OG Shopping Centre and bought a nice shirt for myself. Pretty nice gaaa…….. Then we proceed to Sim Lim Square. Sim Lim Square is similar with Low Yat Plaza in Kuala Lumpur, where computer stuff can actually get there that can bargain a bit with the sellers. Besides computer items found there, there are also electronic items such as camera, mobile phone, video games, video camera, and etc. In fact, i have made a research that buying computer in Singapore is actually cheaper than in Malaysia.
While crossing the road to Sim Lim Square, looked what i found which i been wanted to take picture of the ERP system but don’t have the chance, until i came across of this close one….I am not too sure what it stands for E =Electronic? R=Road? P=Post? …….. Actually it stands for Electronic Road Pricing. and people do called it “EVERYDAY ROB PEOPLE”… hahhaa.. thats funny! It is somewhat like a tol…. as Singapore wanted to limit the number of cars, hence there are many charges incurred if a person own a car. Such as ERP, to enter the city centre, there will be tols around the city centre. ERP charge S$2.00 for car, S$1.00 for bike, S$2.00 for taxi, $4.00 for lorry.
Well, I managed to buy a wireless home use phone for my mum… a SIEMEN phone cost S$120. From the experiment given by the shop keeper, it seems that the SIEMEN phone is better than Panasonic due to the Siemen is made in Germany while Panasonic from China… In fact i have soooo many things in my mind that i want to buy… i guess for these few months i will visit Sim Lim Square quite often………….. The day was getting dark… after for some walk at Sim Lim Square, we then decided to go for Klang Bak Kut Teh where there was one time we walked passed the shop at the Beach Road, near the Golden Mile Complex. It took about 20 minutes for the walk to the shop. Was holding quite some stuff… in the bag and hands.. and was tiring!…. But once reached the restaurant, was in deed excited for the food!!!…..Somemore Bak Kut Teh from Klang Malaysia!
Click here to know more about Bak Kut Teh.
We then took a short distance bus to Raffles City…. We dropped at the nearest bus stop and saw a giant Christmas tree at Raffles City. Photos taken on the day and night.
Cool christmas tree…Nice.. From Raffles City thought of walking to the Orchard Road to take Christmas lighting but unfortunately, we do not have the energy to continue our journey and we ended up at the Cathay Cineplex located at the start of Orchard Road.
East Coast Park is quite an interesting place to go…the stretch of the park is at the side of the sea, and the land across the sea is the country of Indonesia.
At an area of the park, there are a stretch of seafood restaurants. All of the restaurants have quite a quality classy looking. The restaurants look expensive to me.
Although the restaurant is located at the seaside, but the night is dark…. the sea can’t be seen.
We went to one of the restaurants at the seaside called Long Beach Seafood Restaurant (a chinese restaurant). Interestingly, the Logo of the restaurant is a “Caucasian woman in bikini/swimsuit holding a lobster”. It is printed in the flyers and plastic towels. Strange….. Don’t you think this is inappropriate?
Anyway, the food i would say so-so (average).. and I have a feeling it is expensive. We had Singapore dish, Chili Crab. One type of unique seafood dish I never had before is called “Bamboo Clam”. Some kind of shell looks like bamboo. Haha……. Pretty nice though….
I find that Malaysia food is a lot better than Singapore. Not because i am trying to promote Malaysia.. but frankly speaking… thats the fact of the truth.
