Recession Set Lunch Menu at Hard Rock Cafe (promo ends 31st March 2009)

Went to Hard Rock Cafe for lunch today to try out the set Recession Set Lunch. We selected the MaxiCali Chicken and Cajun Fish.  I am a fan of pasta but decided not to choose Bacon Aglio after knowing its just a very basic plain pasta – Spaghetti with Olive oil and some pieces of bacons.  Glad that I made the right choice. 🙂

Both dishes value for $$$.  Comes with fries and coleslaw.  I like the this type of fries – thick and fat and meaty.  Hahaha… I don’t fancy skinny fries.  Yea..i like MOS Burger thick fries!

Besides… the main dishes…. each set comes with soup, drinks and lastly, Haagen Dazs icecream.

Dim Sum Buffet at Dragon Gate (Harbour Front Centre)

Tuesday: Woke up in the morning, brushed teeth, prepared to fill my empty stomach been growling since 6am.

Told myself I must eat 3 meals for today.. muahahahaha..

We decided to go for Dragon Gate Restaurant at Harbour Front Centre, 4th Floor, as referred to many positive reviews from the internet  and the price is only $14.80+++ (weekdays), $17.80+++ (weekends) with more than 30 dim sum varieties to choose from.

If you are looking for buffet in Singapore… you can check out this good website that shows you list of buffet available in Singapore.  Click here..

The entrance of the restaurant is located inside the 4th floor car park area.

The environment of the restaurant is indeed good even offered at low price of dim sum buffet..

Here i made an album of the dim sum plates we chose.

We were eating like a horse (especially me)… two persons, we managed to eat 19 plates of dishes… VERY VERY FULL!  Was trying to try every dish in the list (36 dishes available in total)… but not manage to do that  😦  Hahahaha…… wait till I have not eaten for 2 days, then this may be possible….  Hahaha…

Not  bad… a truly recommended dim sum buffet for you, friends and family.  The dim sums given are very generous.. even the “siew mai” are large in size too!

Total bill $38.35 divide by two persons $19.17

The restaurant is under Starling Group of Restaurants.  You may visit the website for more info.

Rabbit snack

Yikes!!!!  Rabbit snack??  Yup… i didn’t interpret it wrongly.  Indeed called Rabbit Snack…

Rabbit meat

Rabbit meat

My colleague given me to try a unique snack bought from China.. A snack for my tea time???… The rabbit meat is packed in a small packet.

I was feeling guilty when eating the rabbit meat though.  I felt I was kinda disrespecting myself and the beautiful adorable nature of this animal because I was born in the year of  rabbit!

Me being adventurous, i tried the snack… seriously, it taste like “char siew”, aka dried pork.

Rabbit meat is a common meat for country in China.

Ayam Penyet Ria (Smashed Fried Chicken)

Went to this Ayam Penyet Ria at Lucky Plaza.  It is a type of Indonesian food.  Always find a big crowd even though it is between the lunch and dinner time.

In English, it called “Smashed Fried Chicken”… i wondered why named “smashed”?  The chicken was in nice piece of drumstick and wasn’t smashed at all…

I find the food is ok… not really fantastic but it is worth to try.  What i don’t like is, the plate doesn’t have gravy on it… white rice and Indonesian Fried Chicken.   I need gravy in my rice though.. been eating like this since i was a baby. hahahaha… You probably will like it more if you are someone who is ok having no gravy white rice…

Sometimes when you are in a food court, you may find Indonesian food stalls sells Ayam Penyet too…. whether the Ayam Penyet sell at food court (kopitiam) taste good or not I am not too sure, but this Ayam Penyet specialised restaurant sure have many patrons!  Actually, every restaurant in Singapore is crowded with patrons whether the food taste delicious or yuck….

Thinking about it, a survival industry in the economic downtown in Singapore is F&B….whether the food is yummy or sucky, still the restaurant is packed.  Ripley’s Believe it or not? hahahaha…

Well, the restaurant served other type of dishes… but this Ayam Penyet set is recommended dish….

The dish is worth to try, not expensive, just S$6.50 for the set.

The Banana Leaf Apolo

When check at Google search, keyword: “Banana Leaf Singapore”. In the first page, you will find Banana Leaf Apolo…. Checked the website by clicking here.  To make something different, I went there because of the 1st page shown in Google search.

The restaurant is located at Race Course Road, near the Little India.

The environment is quite comfortable, with air condition.  The food…… I would say just average.  The main vegetable dish comes only two dishes, cabbage and somewhat dish that i dare not to touch.  Whereas, the Sri Nirvana Maju I had in Bangsar Kuala Lumpur lots better…more vegetable dishes given with the rice.

I ordered 1 plate of curry chicken, 1 plate of fried chicken and 1 plate of sambal fish.

The chicken curry is watery (not thick) and sambal fish plate very little.

Although the restaurant looks welcoming, was packed with patrons… but it seems the restaurant is not as great as I expected though.
